Why won't my zippo light?

A few days ago I found a zippo on the ground in a parking. I tried to light it with no success. It smells like the guy before was using Charcoal Lighter Fluid for some odd reason....With that, I went home and put Rosonal lighter fluid in it. Ddn't work. I tried replacing flint just to see if that was the problem. Same deal. Sparks and no flame. The wick looks brand new. Tho it does smell like charcoal lighter fluid. Same deal with the cotton. Should I just replace the wick and the cotton?
