Honda Civic, First Car, Hatchback or Coupe?!?

I'm looking for a good first car, that's cheap, fast, and fuel efficient. I really like Civics, which year do you recommend? And hatchback or coupe? I read that the hatchback is lighter, but are there any downsides? Like what does the coupe offer that the hatchback doesn't, and vise versa. Thanks.
